Breast Lift Techniques in Tampa

Fortunately, firmness can be achieved through a popular procedure known as a breast lift.  Tampa breast surgeon Dr. John Roach expertly utilizes this method at the Bayside Center for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, which he founded in 2008 after graduating from medical school with honors and completing seven years of concentrated training in general, plastic, and reconstructive surgery.  A highly skilled cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Roach is well-known for his qualifications as a breast surgeon, and he has performed breast lift procedures for countless Tampa women to enhance the position and contour of their breasts.

In essence, a breast lift operation involves the removal of excess skin around the breast to augment its shape.  In performing a breast lift, Tampa surgeon Dr. Roach will employ one of the following techniques:

  • Doughnut technique – An incision is made around the areola only, and a circle of the surrounding skin (in a doughnut shape) is removed, thus leaving the nipple intact.  While this procedure does not raise the breast in the traditional sense, it often results in a full, perky appearance in women who had experienced mild to moderate sagging and looseness.
  • Tailor-tack technique – The excess breast skin is folded and held in place with temporary sutures.  This provides the surgeon with a preview of the potential results prior to making any incision.  Once the ideal shape is determined, the surgeon removes the temporary sutures and folded excess skin.

In conjunction with a breast lift, Tampa physician Dr. Roach may add breast implants, if desired by the patient, to add volume to the breasts while correcting the sagginess.  These procedures can be performed either simultaneously or in tandem, based on the woman’s preferences and Dr. Roach’s professional judgment.

You can expect long-lasting results from your breast lift.  Tampa women are advised, however, that enhanced breasts will naturally continue to change over time due to aging, gravity, and other factors.  Therefore, it is best to maintain your weight and follow a healthy lifestyle in order to enjoy your new look for as long as possible.
